What is a .svg file?
A .svg file is an SVG image. Its registered MIME type is image/svg+xml, which places it in the image family of formats.
SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics.
Technically it is a specialised form of application/xml (the .rng format), so tools that understand that format can often read at least part of it.
