Privacy Policy
Most files are converted on your device and never uploaded. Files converted on our server are deleted as soon as they are converted.

This policy explains what happens to your files and data when you use TapToConvert (taptoconvert.com). There are no accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details to use the site. Questions about this policy go to support@taptoconvert.com.
Your files
For most conversions and every tool marked "Nothing is uploaded", the files you choose are read by your browser and processed in memory inside the page. They are not transmitted to our servers or to anyone else, and they are discarded when you close or reload the tab. This applies to every conversion except those described in the next section.
Files converted on our server
Some formats cannot be converted faithfully inside a browser: office documents, e-books, some design, vector and font formats, and web pages saved as PDF or images. For those conversions only, the file you choose is sent to our conversion server. Each page that does this says so next to the converter, before you choose a file.
The file travels over an encrypted connection into a temporary folder used only for that conversion. It is converted and returned to you in the same request, and the folder, with your file and the converted result, is deleted as soon as the result has been sent. If a conversion fails part-way, anything left behind is deleted automatically within ten minutes. The conversion programs run without internet access, so nothing inside your file can call out to other sites.
We do not keep copies of your files, read their contents, share them, or use them for anything other than converting them. The conversion server's logs record the two formats, the file size, how long the conversion took and whether it worked; they do not record file names or contents. Your IP address is held in memory for about an hour to enforce the fair-use limit, then discarded, and is not written to those logs.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools are used, so we know what to improve. It records the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your type of device and browser. It never receives your files or their names. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs in a mode that stores nothing on your device: no analytics cookies are set and no identifier is kept, so only anonymous, aggregated counts are possible. Elsewhere, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga) to recognise repeat visits. Google's privacy policy applies to this data, and you can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies for this site.
Cookies and storage
Apart from the Google Analytics cookies described above, where they are used, TapToConvert sets no cookies and uses no fingerprinting. Your browser keeps downloaded converter code in its normal cache so that the next conversion starts faster; you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Services the pages load
When a conversion needs it, the page downloads open-source converter code from cdn.jsdelivr.net. The background remover also downloads its model, about 42 MB, from huggingface.co the first time it is used. Pages load the Figtree typeface from Google Fonts and the Google Analytics script from googletagmanager.com. These requests are for code, models and fonts only; your files are never part of them. Each provider receives your IP address and browser details as part of the request, and its own privacy policy applies to it.
Server logs
Like any website, our web server records standard request logs: the page requested, the time, the browser type and the IP address. They are used only to keep the site running and secure, are not combined with anything you convert, and are deleted after 30 days.
Advertising
The site is free and may show advertising from Google and its partners, which can use cookies to show relevant ads and measure them. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before any such cookie is set, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also manage personalised advertising in your Google account's ad settings.
Your rights
Because we hold no account data and do not keep your files, there is usually nothing about you for us to return or delete. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California or another place that gives you rights over personal data, such as access, correction, deletion or objection, you can exercise them by writing to support@taptoconvert.com. We will answer within the time the law requires.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Changes that affect how your files are handled will be stated clearly.
