How Organize PDF works

Type the page numbers in the order you want them, and a new PDF is built in that order. 3, 1, 2, 4- moves page 3 to the front and keeps the rest after it. A backwards range reverses pages: 10-1 turns a ten-page document around, which fixes scans fed through a scanner the wrong way.

Any page you leave out of the list is left out of the new PDF, and any page listed twice appears twice, so the same box also removes and duplicates pages. The result tells you how many pages were left out, so nothing goes missing by accident.

Pages are copied exactly by pdf-lib inside this tab: text stays selectable and scans keep their resolution. The original file is not changed.

The organized file keeps its name with -organized added. It is a simple way to fix double-sided scans that came out as all fronts followed by all backs: for a ten-page document scanned that way, 1, 10, 2, 9, 3, 8, 4, 7, 5, 6 interleaves them correctly when the backs were scanned in reverse. For long documents, ranges keep the typing short, and the count in the result makes it easy to confirm that nothing was lost. Bookmarks and outlines from the original are not copied into the new file, because they point at page positions that no longer exist; the pages themselves are complete.

When to use it

Reorder pages when a scanner fed double-sided pages out of order, when an appendix needs to move to the end, when a document was scanned back to front, or when you want the summary page first.

Write the order down from your PDF viewer's page thumbnails first; with long documents, ranges such as 1-4, 9, 5-8 save typing.

About these PDF tools

The page tools, from merge and split to crop, resize, watermark and page numbers, use pdf-lib, an open-source JavaScript library that reads the structure of a PDF and writes a new one. Because it works on the page objects themselves rather than on pictures of them, text stays text, fonts stay embedded and vector drawings stay sharp, and nothing is added to your pages that you did not ask for. None of these tools edit what is already printed on a page: to change wording or fill a form, use a PDF editor. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first, since the pages cannot be read without the password. Every tool works on a copy, so the file on your device is never changed.

Some pages are missing

Pages not listed are left out on purpose. Check the count in the result and add the missing numbers.

"Pages do not exist"

A number is higher than the page count shown in the message.

The file will not open

It is password protected. Unlock it first with Unlock PDF.

How to use Organize PDF, step by step

1. Press "Choose a PDF" or drag PDFs onto the box.
2. Set the options if you need to; the defaults suit most uses.
3. Press "Save new order". The work happens on your device.
4. Save the result with its download button.

Is it safe to do this online?

With most online tools, "online" means your file is uploaded to a company's server, processed there and kept for a while before it is deleted. Here it is not. The page downloads the tool's code to your browser, and your file is read and processed inside the tab on your own device. It is never sent to TapToConvert or anyone else.

You can check this yourself: once the page and its engine have loaded, turn off Wi-Fi and the tool still works. That also means there is no queue, no daily limit and no file size cap set by a server; the only limit is the memory your browser gives a single tab.
