How the free online presentation converter works
A presentation is a set of designed pages: text boxes, pictures, shapes, charts and backgrounds placed exactly on each slide. Converting it faithfully needs a presentation program, so this converter uses LibreOffice Impress on our conversion server rather than code in your browser. Each slide is opened and exported as it would be printed, and a PDF of the deck is the most common result: one page per slide, in order, ready to email, print or upload. Charts, tables, shapes and slide backgrounds are drawn exactly where they sit on the slide, and text stays selectable and searchable in the PDF.
Your presentation is uploaded to a private temporary folder used only for this conversion, and that folder is deleted with the presentation and the result as soon as the result is back in your browser. Nothing is kept. Files up to 25 MB can be converted, so decks with a lot of photos may need their images compressed first.
Which presentation format should you use?
PDF is the usual target for a presentation that has already been given: it opens on every device, prints one slide per page, and cannot be accidentally edited. It is the format most conferences, teachers and clients ask for when they want the slides afterwards.
PPTX is the target when the slides still need editing. Converting an old PPT or an ODP from LibreOffice Impress to PPTX gives a deck that opens in current PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote.
Keep the original presentation as well. A PDF cannot play animations, transitions or embedded video, and it does not include speaker notes, so it is a copy for reading and printing rather than presenting.

Teachers and students convert slides to PDF to share lecture notes and hand in coursework, professionals do it to send decks to clients who may not have PowerPoint, and conference speakers do it because organisers ask for a PDF that looks the same on any screen.
Each slide becomes one page at the slide's own size, so a 16:9 deck makes wide pages that fill a laptop screen. Hidden slides are skipped, as they are when you present. Fonts our server lacks are replaced with metric-compatible ones, such as Carlito for Calibri, so text keeps its size and position on the slide.

Tips for converting presentation files
- Embed fonts in PowerPoint (File, Options, Save) if the deck uses unusual typefaces.
- Compress large photos in the deck if it is over 25 MB.
- Unhide any slides you want in the PDF; hidden slides are skipped.
- Keep the PPTX: the PDF cannot be turned back into editable slides.
Is it safe to convert presentation files online?
These conversions need an office suite or an e-book engine, which cannot run inside a browser, so unlike most of TapToConvert they use our conversion server. Here is exactly what happens to your file. It is sent over an encrypted connection to a private temporary folder that only this conversion uses. The converter works on it there, the result is streamed straight back to your browser, and the folder is deleted, with your file and the result inside it, the moment the result has been sent.
Nothing is stored afterwards, there is no account that files are attached to, and our logs record only the formats, the size and whether the conversion worked, never file names or contents. Any folder left behind by a failed conversion is removed automatically within ten minutes. If a file is too sensitive to leave your computer at all, install the same free program and convert it there; the commands are on each conversion page.
